CIT Blaton and Composil join forces to Give a second life to the 22,000m² of carpet from the North Light Tower

In a nutshell:

11.338m²

saved from incineration and sent to our recycling partner Tarkett

10.570m²

refurbished using our methodology and reused directly on-site for the tenant

174T CO₂

Ecological footprint preserved through the circular valorization of the carpet

To avoid the incineration of carpet, CIT Blaton and Composil have partnered!

The renovation project of the North Light Tower, led by CIT Blaton, represented a unique challenge in terms of sustainable construction and material valorization.

Regarding the already installed carpet, CIT Blaton decided to call upon Composil, a specialist in the maintenance, reuse, and recycling of office carpet.

Simultaneously, Whitewood, the owner of the North Light Tower, also acquired new carpets in partnership with Tarkett to fill the surface area sent for recycling and which could not be reused. This project successfully managed to blend reused and new carpets harmoniously, creating a uniform aesthetic and demonstrating the feasibility of such a mix.

The process: a challenge successfully met!

Our logistical process allowed us to efficiently meet the project's challenges in a record time of 5 weeks, while promoting a sustainable and responsible approach.

Refurbishment

17,000 sqm were first subjected to an on-site deep cleaning process that ensures the carpet's durability and its subsequent reuse.

Removal, Sorting & Clearing

We trust our partner ETA Travie, who then efficiently handled the clearing of the tower's 12 floors and the sorting in the parking area.

Storage

After cleaning, the carpet was carefully stored and conditioned on-site, ready for reuse in the original premises.

• Valorization & Reuse

Thanks to our installation partner, we were able to reinstall the carpet in the tower with a focus on circularity and waste reduction.
